Organizationally this is giving each of them wide and deep access to all sorts of means and methods that would escape the purview of either alone. Terrorist infiltration and exfiltration of personnel can now serve as conduits for crime syndicates, while crime syndicates can offer sustainment for terrorist operations that normal shipping cannot support.

This is what I have been pointing out with previous posts like Template of Terror, Web of the Supernote, and looking at the AQ Khan ring along with how drug lords in South America operate. Throw in the illegal gem business that includes the Emerald Gangs in South America, Blood Diamonds in Africa and various other gem stones in places like Kashmir and you start to get the feel for how extensive this intertwined set of operations can get. Terrorists can now get logistical support via crime syndicates, work criminal activities and offer those same syndicates ways to get into areas that they are normally restricted from.

I hit the Clinton Administration harder in my post on The Volunteer Fifth Column and the entire mess that they left behind, including knowing that al Qaeda was supporting terrorist operations in the US and Canada, along with Yemen, show that they had no foriegn policy and would not address terrorism in any way, shape or form. And we are left the poorer for that and in much, much more danger.

This intertwining of criminal and terrorist activities makes BOTH harder to address and each of them deadlier over time.

We had best learn that, or history will remind us of our stupidity.A Jacksonianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07607888697879327120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20372724.post-1171634020706399972007-02-16T08:53:00.000-05:002007-02-16T08:53:00.000-05:00Criminal networks abound.Powerful post, a jacksoni...Criminal networks abound.

Powerful post, a jacksonian. Hillary Clinton's accusations of Bush leaving behind a mess in '08 for the nation to clean up - when Clinton's own mess was even more entrenched and with greater long-term implications.Harrisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17688001023588334672noreply@blogger.com
